Gala portraits of horses served as a means of glorification of monarchical persons. Only the best horse would be given the honor of being pictured together with his master. A horse with a special status would have a separate
«personal» portrait… The Museum of Horse Breeding of the Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy (TAA) is one of the world largest collections of pictures of the hippos genre. This year the museum celebrates its 80th anniversary.
